FISCHEL AUSTRIA BENTWOOD BISTRO CHAIR

A beautiful bentwood bistro chair historically used in cafes and bars. This particular example has a really lovely decorative seat and is stamped by the maker Fischel underneath with Fischel Austria.

DG Fischel and son was founded by David Fischel in Neimes, Czechoslovakia.  When the patent originally registered by Michael Thonet came to an end in 1871 the company started to make bentwood furniture. David's son had previously worked for Thonet and by 1913 their business had extended into Austria
